Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Orville Wohlrabe, age 89, of the Town of Clayton passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at home. He was born September 15, 1934, to the late Herbert and Elsie Wohlrabe. On September 22, 1951, Orville married Mary Jane Schuman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage in Amherst, WI. For almost 40 years, he worked at Marathon Paper/Georgia Pacific until his retirement. Orville enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he and Mary took pleasure in camping in Yellowstone Park, as well as trips to Hawaii, Alaska, the Great Lakes, and the Caribbean, which included many cruises. On December 23, 2002, Mary Jane preceded Orville in death. In October of 2004 he married Judith Ann Wolfling and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2008.
Orville is survived by two sons, Bruce (Lisa) Wohlrabe, Brian Wohlrabe (Vicki Wittmus); seven grandchildren, Crystal (Andrew) Linskens, Connie (Matt) Zimmerman, Matthew (MaryBeth) Wohlrabe, Malinda (Jared) Kirby, Sabrina (Steve) Herrick, Travis (Lindsey) Wohlrabe, Trent Wohlrabe (Erin); seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Marge Wege; brothers-in-law, Philip Schuman, Danny Schuman; sister-in-law, Bev Schuman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents and two wives, Orville was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Wohlrabe; one sister, three brothers, and in-laws, Evelyn and Bill Greer, Raymond and Ann Wohlrabe, Everett and Doris Wohlrabe, Fred and Emily Wohlrabe, Don Wege, Paula and Larry Egan, and Clarence Pudil.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

Orville, a very fond memory that comes to mind when I think of you, when I got the two bucks on our lane. I think you were more excited about me getting them than I was! We had some great hunting seasons. You'll be missed.

I am a neighbor who lives down the street from Orv and want to offer my sincere condolences to his whole family. We lived as neighbors for twenty years now and knew Phillip in the past when he was more mobile. Phillip spent lots of time riding on our long driveway and helping with our woodpile. My fondest memory of Orv was the day he came walking over with one of our free range chickens under his arm. He kindly returned her with a smile and said “She seems to like my garage but I think she’ll be happier with her sisters.” He seemed like a quiet gentle soul to me and was a good neighbor. May God Bless you all as you mourn his passing and celebrate a life well lived.
