Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Eleanor Kester joined her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband Willert Kester on Thursday, January 11, 2024, just a few weeks before her 101st birthday. Eleanor was born in Oshkosh on February 2, 1923, to Edna and Charles Baier. She graduated from Oshkosh High school and attended Oshkosh Vocational and Business school. In 1942 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Willert Kester.
Eleanor followed her husband to Stockton, California when he was in the Army and during that time she worked as a civilian employee in the office of the Stockton Ordinance Depot. Back in Oshkosh Eleanor was a homemaker and later ran the Boy Scouts of America Office for many years and was awarded their Thunderbird award. And then she was co-owner, with her husband, of Kester’s Wild Game Food Nurseries in the Town of Omro for many years.
Eleanor was very active in her church throughout her life. She was an avid volunteer and was very active in her children’s lives participating in their school’s PTA plus helped with many activities.
An avid antique collector, Eleanor and her husband also enjoyed life together gardening, fishing, hunting, golfing, square dancing, round dancing, ball room dancing, traveling, cruising, camping, bowling and playing cards either by themselves, with family or with their many friends.
One of Eleanor’s absolute joys was spending time with her family.
Eleanor is survived by daughter, Karen (Fran) Sedlachek; son, David (Patricia) Kester; grandchildren: April (Scott Moore) Pesch, Paula (Andy) Damp, Lisa (Mike) Christman, Paul Kester, Beth Kester; great-grandchildren: Ryan (Nora Lowe) Hunter, Tony Hunter, Samantha Spanbauer and Lucie Spanbauer; plus many nieces and nephews.
