Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Christian “Minnie” G. Rutten, of Boom Bay, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born November 30, 1929, in Little Chute to the late Walter and Ardina (Vanderburgt) Rutten. Chris was a graduate of St. John’s Catholic Grade School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 30, 1955, he married Minnie Lenz in Little Chute, where they made their home. For 48 years Chris was employed with Appleton Coated Paper Company in Combined Locks retiring in 1993. Chris and Minnie made their home on Lake Poygan in 1997 after spending all of their summers there. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and loved to sturgeon spear. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne and the American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute. This past October Chris and his daughter-in-law Connie had the privilege to take the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Chris was a 15-gallon blood donor to the Community Blood Center.
Chris is survived by three children, Randal (Connie Brandenburger) Rutten, Robert (Peggy Leach) Rutten, Roxanne (John) Slowatyniec; grandchildren, Devon Slowatyniec (special friend, Katrina), Isabel Slowatyniec, Grant, Joette (Jason) Behm; great-grandchildren, Ariyanah, Kylie, Cayden, Kenley; brothers, Jude (Betty) Rutten, Joseph Rutten; sisters, Theresa Drissen, Veronica Stueber, Marjorie (Richard) Solberg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Christian was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Minnie; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Rutten; brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Bernard Rutten, Gertrude O’Brian, Leona and Jack Geiger, John and Clara Rutten, Maryann and Thomas Schmidt, Thomas Rutten, Jean Rutten, and Leo Stueber.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church, followed by military honors. Interment will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Fremont-Wolf EMS staff and the Boom Bay First Responders for their care and concern shown to Chris.
