Paul A. Tichonchik, age 68, of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Paul was born in Oshkosh, on April 26, 1956, to the late Mike & Billie Tichonchik. He graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1974. Shortly after graduation, he went on to discover that he didn’t like working for others, so he did what any 18-year-old would do – bought a semi-truck and started his own business. For 50 years, Paul was the proud owner of Tichco, Inc.

From a young age, Paul dreamed of being a farmer. It all started when he was just 6 years old – he convinced his older brother to help write a letter to John Deere, sharing his love for tractors. Not long after the letter was mailed, the family was surprised by a knock on the door from a John Deere salesman asking for Mr. Paul Tichonchik. Truly the beginning of a life-long hobby and farming career. Paul cash cropped over 500 acres of land, including the family farm, for many years.

Paul, also known as Pauly T or Haney, was loved by all. He never met a stranger and truly had a heart of gold. Paul had a knack for wheeling and dealing, always looking for ways to make the next big dollar. Paul was a member of the American Truck Historical Society and Fox River Wheelers. He was often found spending time with friends and family, drinking a rye whiskey and water, and watching westerns. He loved spending time in his shop.

Anyone who knew Paul knew he was the most loving brother, uncle, and friend.

Paul is lovingly survived by his sister, Patsy Beck; sister-in-law, Kay Tichonchik; nieces, Stephany Beck and Anne (Luke) Linsmeyer; nephew, Tim Tichonchik, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Billie Tichonchik; brother, Jim Tichonchik; and brother-in-law, Randy Beck.

A celebration of life for Paul will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Jasper’s Bar, 6510 WI-44, Pickett, WI 54964. We invite you to join us in sharing your memories of Paul. A private family burial is scheduled the following day at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established with the American Truck Historical Society and Fox River Wheelers. Please also consider donating to your favorite agricultural organization in Paul’s memory.

Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish, please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

My heart felt sympathy to Patsy, Stephany and family. I was fortunate enough to get to work with Paul for over 30 years during vegetable harvest! He truly was a wonderful man with a heart of gold and you could always count on him for a good laugh! Just someone you enjoyed being around! I will miss calling him and hearing, “Paul Tichonchik here!” He always had an upbeat attitude, and sure was looking forward to getting home! Gone too soon, but will never be forgotten! God bless, Paul. Rest in peace and thank you for your friendship.

When Cindy and I first moved out to our farm Paul helped us so much with making and baling hay. Even let us use one of his tractors. Paul will be greatly missed by Cindy and I. Hard to believe that he is gone. Just talked to him a couple of weeks ago and he was in good spirits. He was looking forward to coming home in August. We even talked about me helping around the farm after I retire. Patsy, Cindy and I are so sorry for your loss. God bless Paul's family during this time of loss. God bless you Paul, you were a Great Neighbor!
