Roger Lee Stahl, 89, of Larsen, formerly of Black River Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

He was born January 31, 1935, in Hibbing, Minnesota to the late John and Julia (Carpenter) Stahl. Roger was a graduate of Hibbing High School, where he was an active member of FFA and was a champion grappler on his high school wrestling team.

In 1954 he married Margaret Smith and they had six children, who he continued to raise alone after their divorce. Roger’s work career included time in Hibbing with the M.A. Hannah Mining Company, Pacific Isle, and Inland Steel. In 1968 Roger moved to Black River Falls, Wisconsin and was employed the by Jackson County Iron Mine until 1982. From 1982 until 1984 he worked for Pinkerton and Lunda Construction. Since September 2007 he has made his home in Larsen, with his daughter Bonita and her husband Peter.

Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cutting wood, reading, riding motorcycles, any other outdoor activities, and shared all with his children, grandchildren, and friends.

He is survived by his children, Bonita (Peter) Walter, Barbara (Rick) Rhodes, Jean Tosh, Renee (Steve) Luebke, David (Melodee) Stahl; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; a brother, Chuck (Barb) Stahl; sisters, Carol Brown, Mary Sams, Jane (Jim) Drake, Susan (Gaylen) Kuha, brother-in-law, Henry Carlson; and many other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Roger was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Roger Stahl; a granddaughter, Debra Rae Stahl; son-in-law, Allen Tosh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan Stahl, JoAnn Carlson, Bob Brown, Ervin Sams; and not to be forgotten, his loving and loyal canine companion, Bender.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.

Roger’s family wishes to thank the staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice, especially Lexi, for the care given to him.

My condolences to the entire family. Uncle Roger was an amazing man and was loved by all that knew him. For me, he was a huge part of my childhood, and he will be forever loved and missed ??
