Gary Lee Longworth, 78, of Wild Rose, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Gary was born November 13, 1945, to Chester and Edna Longworth in Berlin, Wisconsin. During his high school years, he worked at Omro Building Center’s lumberyard and Leach Company in Oshkosh. Upon graduation, Gary enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Traverse County during the Vietnam War. After his naval service, he was employed by Wisconsin Bell until his retirement.

From childhood, Gary had a deep love for the outdoors, often fishing or hunting with his father, family, and friends. This passion continued throughout his life, with many days spent in fishing boats, tree stands, duck blinds, or on foot in various wooded areas locally and out west. His impressive collection of trophies and memorable stories were cherished by his children and grandchildren, who shared his love for the outdoors.

When not pursuing the next big trophy, Gary enjoyed running an 80-acre hobby farm with his spouse of 46 years, Carole, and their four daughters. They took pride in living on the farm for over thirty years, working outdoors, raising animals, baling hay, planting vegetable gardens, improving the farm buildings, and restoring the farmhouse. Gary also had a passion for carpentry, building rifles, rifle and trap shooting, wood carving and spending winters in Texas with Carole, and, of course, cheering on the Packers and Brewers.

Gary is survived by his four children, Angela (Nicholas) Mork of White Bear Lake, MN; Jennifer (David) Paramo of Montello, WI; Michelle (Daniel) Lawler of Madison, WI; and Lisa (Mitchell) Lux of Appleton, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Kasuboski, Dustin (Dominique) Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes, and Lukas Mork; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his spouse Carole; his sisters, Edith and Audrey; his parents, Chester and Edna; as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Due to the recency of Carole’s passing, a private service will be held at the family's request on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Poygan. Memorial donations can be made to the Berlin Conservation Club and can be sent either to Angela Mork or directly to the conservation club at the following address: W898 Whiteridge Road, Berlin, WI 54923.
