Barbara Ellen Jersey passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at her home in Hainesville, IL. She was born June 1954 on the Menominee Reservation in Keshena, WI to Monroe Weso and Lois Warrington. In 1972 she graduated from Bowler High School in Bowler, WI. Barbara spent much of her life as an accomplished Financial Market Professional in Chicago, IL. Barabara was the proud co-founder and coordinator of the Menominee Community Center of Chicago for 25 years with her dear friend Pamela Silas. She also was a cohost of a Native American Radio show “Voices from the Circle” which won the Silver Reel Award. Barbara truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed participating in powwow’s, dog walking, art, reading, and spending time with her family. Barbara was a devoted lifelong learner and gardener. Barbara was an avid beader that enjoyed making her partner’s regalia and jewelry. Barbara was known by many as kind and caring to all, and impactful on the lives she touched.
Barbara is survived by: life partner, James Denomie; sister, Carol (Tom) Moffitt; nephew, Mathew (Carol) Moffitt; niece, Genevieve (Craig) Lowdermilk; nephew, Luke (Natalia) Moffitt; and great-nieces, Cierra Cordray, Diana Lowdermilk, Jolie Chambers, Lydia Moffitt, Suzi Sobkowiak, Julia Lowdermilk, Aubrey Lowdermilk, Madeleine Moffitt, Ania Moffitt; and many aunts, cousins, and friends.
We invite you to share in Barbara’s memorial at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, WI 54986 on Saturday, October 26, 2024; visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 noon.

I am sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. My deepest condolences to Jim and family. She was a bright spirit whose influence was felt throughout several communities. Her light and good work will continue to guide us.

To Jim and all of Barbara's family and many friends I wish to express my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences at her sudden loss! In the short time I have known her we had become friends and bonded on many local issues in our small community many of which she had a real passion for. I will miss her strong spirit and voice!
