Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Janet M. Ticks, 97, of Winneconne, died Monday, October 28, 2024, at The Residence Assisted Living in Oshkosh. She was born September 1, 1927, to the late Gerald and Hilda (Schmude) Tritt.
For many years, Janet worked for Butch Quigley Construction, and she then went on her own doing smaller jobs like siding, fascia, and soffit work and an occasional roof or two during the summer months. She scaled down to passing the time working in her wood shop on many different projects. Janet, always independent, never really retired, she just kept working until she couldn’t anymore.
Janet was an avid Milwaukee Braves and Brewers fan, listening to and watching the games while keeping a scorebook. She was fond of her breakfast with the girls at Jackie’s Parkside, and enjoyed Friday night fish frys with an old fashioned. She bowled for many years on the Rice Pharmacy team, and liked going on casino trips, playing cards, and watching her grandkid’s softball and baseball games. Janet was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.
Janet is survived by two daughters, Connie Ziebell, Kelly (Charles) Roland; grandchildren, Shawn Ziebell, Dan Spice, A.J. Ziebell (Sarah), Stephanie (Mike) Thompson, Bryce Roland; brothers, Berniel Tritt, Delroy Tritt; sisters, June Smith, Beverly Rehfeldt; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with her parents, Janet was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Ziebell; brothers, Gerald Tritt, Sherden Tritt; and sisters, Elaine Collins, Carol Hinz, Arleta Tritt.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave. Omro. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Wenzel officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Poygan.
