Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
William Marvin Krause, a devoted husband, father, and brother, is doing “better than he deserves”. On March 16, 1980, he experienced the greatest event of his life, when he personally accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. From that point on, he always said he was “better than he deserved” and would explain when asked “I’ve read the Bible, I saw I’m a sinner deserving to go to hell, I accepted Christ as my savior and I’m not going — so I already am getting better than I deserve!”
Bill passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 73. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Krause, and their son, Joshua Krause, who is married to Bailey, and their children, Ryker, and Clara. William is also survived by his four siblings: Marcia Saylor, who is married to Bronson, Connie Vallow, who is married to Bernard, Duane Krause, and Renee Sharratt, who was married to Jim (who passed away).
William served honorably in the United States Air Force for 33 years, spanning both his 11 years of enlisted service and 22 years as a civilian Department of Defense civil servant. During his tenure, he held the positions of Contracting Specialist and Director of Business Operations in the contracting squadrons at Dyess AFB, Loring AFB, and Whiteman AFB.
In addition to his immediate family, William leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will fondly remember him. He is also survived by Peggy’s siblings: Susie Tiede, who is married to Ty, Sam Maronn, who is married to Patty, Nancy Noffke, who is married to Lee, and Dan Maronn, who is married to Tomoka.

I had the absolute privilege of serving with Bill at Whiteman AFB from 2002-2006 where he had a tremendous impact on both his employees and the defense of our nation. I can honestly say, as his commander, I learned far more from him than he did from me. I credit Bill for teaching me how to be a better leader which greatly assisted me in my future career. Bill always delivered on the toughest assignments with true grit. On several occasions, he took it upon himself to be with me in the Command Post in late hours of the night only to turn around and return to the Command Post very early the following morning. He did this not because he had to but because he cared about our organization and wanted to assist however he could during very challenging times. He was an absolute servant! In addition, my kids loved visiting the squadron where Bill's smile and interactions made them feel as if they were part of the team. They talked about "Mr. Krause" on many occasions. Later in my assignment when I deployed, he frequently checked on my family to ensure everything was fine. Bill was the linchpin that made the 509th Contracting Squadron shine for many years! Bill will be deeply missed!

Bill was a close and dear friend when my husband, Dr. Mel Mabra, pastored Camp Branch Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO. We grew to love and appreciate him and his devoted family.
His "Christian walk" was to be admired and emulated.
Love in Christ,
Caroline Mabra

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. K was my first ever Director of Business Operations. He was a great man to work with, even if he was a Green Bay Packers Fan. I always enjoyed our bantering while I was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base. He will most definitely be missed.

I am sad that Mr K, as he was fondly called, has passed , but I know he is happy now to be with Jesus. His family and those whose lives he touched will surely miss him . He was my boss at Whiteman AFB, and was a caring and nurturing boss. He is rejoicing with the angels at last.
