Keith B. Coats, age 76, of Winneconne, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 4, 2025, after suffering a stroke.  He was born on October 14, 1948, the son of the late Rexford and Agnes Schonscheck Coats.  Keith celebrated 54 years of marriage to the love of his life Kathryn M. (Moran) Coats this year.

He served 4 years active duty as a Marine in the Vietnam War.  Keith’s extensive career extended over four decades and is best remembered as Keith Coats Contracting putting in numerous septic tanks and systems.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  His favorite hobby was sturgeon spearing with his little brother Donny and numerous friends and family.  He mastered the sport as he speared three sturgeon over 100 lbs. even breaking many records at the time.

Keith is survived by his wife of 54 years Kathy Coats, his siblings Rose Ann (Ron) Doro, Phil (Marge) Coats, Diana (Dave) Sanders and Donald (Lynda) Coats.   His sisters-in-law Karen (Pete) Heilsberg, Pauline Wienandt, brother-in-law Greg (Julie) Moran, along with many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws Gordon and Elaine (Magnusen) Moran.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday September 18, 2025, at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St.  Winneconne Wi at 5:00 p.m. with Deacon Paul Vidmar officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be at Rushford Cemetery in Omro.

He will be missed dearly.
