Milford A.
Lother - MARINE - HUSBAND - FATHER - GRANDFATHER – GREAT-GRANDFATHER Born
August 12, 1938, was called to peace November 1, 2025. Milford served in the United
States Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis and along with his platoon,
turned out on the tarmac when Castro threatened a four to one return on Marines
who may be sent to invade Cuba. Ready to go, they waited for orders until they
were told to return to barracks. He served his Nation and held the Code to the
end.
Milford
married Nadine Richards in 1961 whom he has two children with: Cynthia Pencak
and Alan Lother. In 1987 Milford married Nancy Hansen and adopted Christene
Lother-Moratz as his daughter on July 28, 1988.
He was an
accomplished carpenter and tradesman. Owner and operator of Lother Builders,
Milford built custom homes in Lake Forest, IL, Zion, IL, Mundelein, IL and did
remodeling of homes throughout the Lake County and Cook County area to the
highest degree of craftsmanship. In affirmation of his skill and
professionalism, Milford was called to testify as an expert witness in a court
of law.
Milford’s
life touched many and his family and structures that are left behind pay homage
to the man who built them. Milford was born in Detroit Lakes, MN to Arthur and
Elva (Hakes) Lother, later moving to Zion, IL where he graduated from
Zion-Benton Township High School in 1956. Milford joined the United States
Marine Corps in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Milford passed
away among family, on November 1, 2025, in Winneconne, WI. Milford leaves
behind: his wife Nancy Lother of Winneconne, WI; Cindy Pencak of Genoa, WI
(daughter), Alan and Shannon Lother (son and daughter-in-law) of Kenosha, WI;
Christene and Craig Moratz (daughter and son-in-law) of Fremont, WI; and seven grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
Milford was
preceded in death by: his parents, Arthur and Elva Lother; and his brothers,
Dale and Carroll Lother.
A celebration
of life with military honors will be held at a later date.
