Clara D. Opperman, age 88, of Winneconne, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at home. She was born June 16, 1929, in Stevens Point to the late Cecil and Marie (Mansavage) Coats. On August 30, 1947, Clara married Carmen Opperman in Stevens Point. She was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
Family meant everything to Clara and she is survived by: five children, Sandra Butt, of Berlin; Deborah Opperman, of Winneconne; Daniel (Lisa) Opperman, of Oshkosh; Lori (Danny) Kirk, of Fremont; Jan (Ramon) Cruz, of Omro; three granddaughters, Emilie Dahm of Winneconne; Rachel Cruz, of Omro; Tina Leavitt, of Utah; great-grandchildren, Espen and Annika Dahm, of Winneconne; Theresa, Heather, and Brandon, of Utah; two brothers, Cecil Coats, Jr., of Stevens Point; Gregory (Susan) Coats, of Neshkoro; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents, Clara was also preceded in death by her husband, Carmen, on September 5, 1988; a sister, Doris Modl; and a son-in-law, Ronald Butt.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. until Noon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at Noon at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Inurnment will be in the Winneconne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the organ, bells, and music program at St. Paul's would be appreciated.
Clara's family wishes to thank Pastor Albrecht and the staff of Ascension/Affinity Visiting Nurses, especially Ryan, Vi, and Toni for all of care and concern shown to her.
