It is with
great sadness that the family of Cleo A. Wentzel (Cornelius)—beloved
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—announces that she has been reunited
with her cherished husband, Wally, and son, Garry, on Friday, November 7,
2025.
Cleo was
employed at Wisconsin National Life until the company closed in 1993.
She later worked at Theda Clark Medical Library until her retirement
in 1999, when she began enjoying her love for camping and traveling with her
best friend, Wally. If they weren’t exploring the states in their RV during the
summer, they took great pleasure in serving as campground hosts at various
Wisconsin state parks. During the winter months, they resided in Polo Park
East near Orlando, Florida, where they enjoyed working together at Disney
World and participating in the many activities offered in their 55+ community.
In addition
to exploring the United States, Cleo and Wally had the opportunity to
visit Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, the British Isles, New
Zealand, and Australia.
Cleo will be
forever remembered by her cherished children: sons Steve (Cindy) and Jim
(Karen), and daughter Amy (Larry) Krueger; grandchildren Nikki (Ryan)
Braun, Ryan (Courtney) Krueger, Rachael (fiancé Alex Bucholtz), Andy
Wentzel, Kyle (Emma) Wentzel, Jonas Wentzel, Gwynnie Wentzel, Luke
(Missy) Wentzel, and Sam (Matilda) Wentzel; and great-grandchildren Lilli
and Levi Braun, Gavin and Kennedy Krueger, and Wesley and Ellie Kay
Wentzel. She is also survived by her brothers Jerry (Pat) Cornelius and David
(Marsha) Cornelius; her sister Jo Anne Woodford; and sister-in-law Karen
Ross.
Cleo was
preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Wally Wentzel; her
parents, George and Cleona Cornelius; her in-laws, Oscar and Katheryn
Wentzel; a son, Garry F. Wentzel; and her brother, Skip Cornelius.
Honoring her
wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service.
