Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Audrey C. Mueller, 92, passed away early Monday morning at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh after a brief illness.
Born January 21, 1926, in Milwaukee to Albert and Selma (Anunson) Uvaas, Audrey grew up on the family farm in the town of Winchester where she was baptized and attended Grace Lutheran Church. She graduated from Winneconne High School in 1944, then spent the next three years at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee, where she earned her RN degree.
Audrey was employed at Cook County Hospital in Chicago before returning to Winnebago County where she worked at Mercy Hospital and Winnebago State Hospital. She later joined the nursing staff at Theda Clark in Neenah where she spent 30 years caring for patients from around the Fox Valley.
On October 16, 1948, she married Ray Mueller, a Grafton native who had moved to Winneconne to open a grocery store. Together, they spent 52 years together in the Village, raising four children. Ray preceded her in death in October of 2000.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Saint Paul, MN), Maureen (Winneconne), Donna (Berlin), and Richard (Evansville, IN); sons-in-law Fred Gaiser and Jerry Johnson; and daughter-in-law Lisa Mueller; five grandchildren: Eric (Suzie) Johnson, Todd Johnson, Michelle (Jason) Vander Velden, Jeff Borgardt, and Tom Jorgenson; and one great-grandchild (Kingston Johnson). She is also survived by sister, Shirley (Mike) Skopick; brother, David Uvaas; sister-in-law, Betty Uvaas; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, John Uvaas, preceded her in death.
Audrey and Ray were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Winneconne. Audrey was also lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary and spent many years serving the Winneconne community in various ways.
We will remember and honor her wonderful sense of humor, her compassion, her easy going nature, the sacrifices she made for her family, and the simple kindnesses she shared with everyone she encountered.
Family members would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff of Parkview Health Center where Audrey enjoyed the last few years of her incredibly full life.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, from noon until 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth Street, Winneconne. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Inurnment will be in Winneconne Cemetery.
The Mueller Funeral Home in Winneconne is serving the family. If you wish, please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.

Barb, so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. We just returned to town today so I couldn't be there to express my condolences but, as everyone says, hold tight to the memories of smiles and good times.

Barbara, Maureen, Donna, Richard: My warmest condoleances to all of you. Your mom is now in her heavenly home with your dad Ray. Spent a lot of time at the store as next door neighbors. Thought so much of both of them. I winter at Fort Myers, FL and will be unable to attend Audrey's funeral but will be there in spirit.
