Gale Schaefer, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home in Winneconne on Monday, June 25, 2018. She was born in Neenah on March 1, 1950, to the late Emerson and Dolores Rieckmann of Larsen. Gale graduated from Winneconne High School in 1968. On December 30, 2004, she married Mike Schaefer on the beach in Key West, Florida.
Gale retired 12 years ago from the accounting department at Hoffmaster in Oshkosh. All of her office co-workers enjoyed the home baked treats that she always brought into the office.
She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her little teddy bear dog, Lucy, who rarely left her side. Gale found real joy in riding her CanAM Spyder motorcycle, always keeping up with Mike on his Harley. Collecting and reading books was another favorite. Gale and Mike spent the winters in Celebration, and later, Clermont, Florida. She appreciated leaving the winter snow behind and enjoyed the Florida sunshine.
Gale is survived by her husband, Mike Schaefer; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Mark Danke, grandsons, Carter and Chase, all of Winneconne; brother, Randy (Lucine) Rieckmann, of South Dakota. She is further survived by her first husband, Allan (Kathie) Skruby; and other relatives and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Connie Bramlett officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, especially Erica and Christine, for all their care and concern they gave to Gale.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.
