Richard "Jake" Jacob, age 78, of Winneconne, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at home. He was born June 14, 1931, in Appleton to the late Henry and Rose (Signor) Jacob. Jake served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. In June of 1956, he married Lois Kauth, and she preceded him in death in 1980. On August 13, 1988, Jake married Rhonda Johnson. For 37 years he worked at American Can before retiring in 1993. Jake was a life time member of the V.F.W. Post 10893 in Neenah, and a lifetime member of the Giles-Luce American Legion Post 364 in Winneconne, where he was the Post Commander.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rhonda Jacob, of Winneconne; son, Rick (Lori) Jacob, of Appleton; daughter, Cindy (Bob) Ross, of Menasha; grandchildren, Craig (Rachel) Jacob, Philip Jacob, Kasey (Bryan) Bailey; half-brother, Ralph Jacob; step-sister, Alice Claypool; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and first wife, Jake was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christina Ross; three brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Raymond Jacob; and six sisters, Evelyn Werner, Ruth Weigt-Schildt, Janice Le Moine, Marge Schmitt, Elaine Jacob, and Millie Foelker.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, Larsen, Wisconsin, with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Military honors will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Jake's family wishes to thank the staff of ThedaCare At Home Hospice, especially Tracie, Ann, Kathy, Mary, Paul, and Diane, for all of the care given to him; and also to all of the family, neighbors, and friends for all of their support.

Rhonda, we were saddened to hear of the loss of Jake. May you find comfort in knowing he is with Jesus now, free from all illness and pain. May you also find comfort in Jesus' words, that you will be together again, with Him in all glory.
