Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Virginia M. Dehn, age 98, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Country Villa Assisted Living in Omro, surrounded by her family. She was born in the town of Nekimi on July 3, 1920, to Theodore and Lora (Kossel) Reitz. On December 7, 1940, Virginia married Victor Dehn and they were married 66 years before his passing in 2006. Together Virginia and Victor had two children, Roger and Mary.
She was a housewife and bookkeeper for Victor Dehn & Son Trucking. Virginia was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, where she served as the financial secretary and taught Sunday school for many years. She belonged to the Senior Saints at St. John's Lutheran Church, Nekimi. Virginia loved to work with her crafts; sewing, making potholders and plastic canvas decorations, and she made sure each of her family received a new pair of potholders this year. Virginia and Victor loved to travel in their motor home, camp, and spend time with family and friends.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law and their family: Mary and Bruce Peterson, and their children, Amy (Michael) Korth, and children, Lora and Zachary; Michael Peterson; Roger and Judy's children and their families: Michele (Fred) Ubrig, and children, Mitchell (Alyssa), and children, Landon and Peyton; Susan (Ray) Poff, and children, Amanda (Christopher) Purath, Raymond (Alyx) Poff, Ryan Poff; Christine Dehn, and children, Andrew (Jade) Potratz, Allison Potratz. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Reitz; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding Virginia in death were her husband, Victor; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Ella (Schultz) Dehn; her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Judy Dehn; brothers and sisters, Ray (Flossie) Reitz, Loretta (Hilbert) Wilke, Amber (Foster) Plantz, Rexford Reitz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ervin (Esther) Dehn, Lester (Donna) Dehn, Irene (Myron) Kumbier, Lorraine (Harold) Mosher; nephews, Terry Reitz, LeRoy Dehn, Darwin Kumbier, Donald Kumbier; and a great-great-granddaughter, Addalynn Purath.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Calvary Lutheran Church 2580 W. 9th Ave. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at Noon at the church with Pastor Clarence Harms officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellenwood Cemetery, Oshkosh.
