Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Eleanor Louise (Genal) Helm "Elf" was peacefully guided to her next journey in heaven on Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was born in Appleton on March 25, 1937, to Albert J. and Dorothy L. (Zastrow) Genal. On August 27, 1960, Eleanor married Herbert A. Helm.
She was a sewing instructor at O.T.C., a stay at home mom, and for many years a part-time sewing instructor for F.V.T.C. Eleanor was an active member of Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, Winneconne and its Busy Hands group, and was a participant in the Winneconne Area Civic League. Sewing was her greatest passion especially making the girls clothes and stitching shirts for the men in her life.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bob Felberg, of Winneconne; Karen and Russ Dettlaff, of Oshkosh; sisters, Diane (Jerry) Vogt, of Iowa; Christine (John) Rademacher, of Rhinelander; Cheryl (Tom) Rosenthal, of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Helm of Neenah; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Wolf, of Winneconne; nephews, nieces, and many caring and thoughtful friends, especially David, Nancy, and "adopted sister", Linda Calica.
Preceding Eleanor in death was her husband, Herbert Helm; parents, Dorothy and Albert Genal; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Marguerite Helm.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church 6090 Harbour South (corner of Harbour South and Hwy 116) Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Kevin Heffernan officiating. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
