Russel "Rusty" O. Schmude

03/22/1937 - 10/26/2018

Russel "Rusty" O. Schmude, age 81, of Omro, died unexpectedly Friday, October 26, 2018. He was born in the town of Poygan on March 22, 1937, to the late Russell and Laurel (Baldry) Schmude. From 1st through 8th grade Rusty attended the one-room White School in Poygan and then onto Omro High School. On May 14, 1966, he married Marcella Linssen Volp in Peshtigo. Rusty farmed all of his life and for 20 years he also worked for the Winnebago County Highway Department.
Rusty is survived by three children and their mother, Marie Schmude Greene, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Jeffery (Carrie) Schmude, of Oshkosh; Lawrence Schmude, of Conway, Arkansas; Kathleen Henry, of Conway, Arkansas; nine step-children, Barbara (Dennis) Petersen, of Franklin, Wisconsin; Virginia "Ginny" Zink, of Oshkosh; Lola Schoenfeld, of Clintonville; Wayne Volp, of Winneconne; Rena (Jeffrey) Johnson, of Oshkosh; Larry Volp, of Racine; Glen (Joni) Volp, of Omro; Dale (Laura "LJ") Volp, of Winneconne; Russell (Amy) Volp, of Omro; son-in-law, Jan Mallmann, of Hortonville; special family friends, Lee and Patty Volp, and their two daughters, of Omro; grandchildren, Jacquline (Jesse) Steiner, of Oshkosh; Jacob Schmude, of Oshkosh; Lisa Schmude, of Palm Bay, Florida; Timothy Schmude, of Palm Bay, Florida; Rachal Thibodeau, of Winchester; five great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Julie) Schmude, of Oshkosh; Neil (Debbie) Schmude, of Omro; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Rusty was also preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Schmude; a daughter, Lisa Mallmann; and a brother, Allen Earl Schmude.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Burial in the Borth Cemetery will immediately follow the visitation.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Rusty. He was a client at Omro Animal Hopsital and we absolutely loved seeing him walk through the door. He will be greatly missed.

When I would stop to see Rusty, first thing he would say "do want a Pepsi",then bring his old maps out to see who owned what and when. He was a regular historian.Going to miss you Rusty,Rest in peace. Condolences go out to his family.

Russell was the Omro High School classmate of both my husband, Jim Bradley, and I. He was always a very likable and pleasant person and very interesting to visit with at subsequent class reunions. We extend our sympathies to the family. God speed, Russell.
