Robert "Bob" "RJ" J. Meulemans, age 79, of Winneconne, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, following a year long struggle with colon cancer. He was born September 22, 1930, to Felix and Adella (Appleton) Meulemans of Kimberly.
Bob attended Holy Name Catholic Grade School and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his service he was employed by Western Electric (Alcatel-Lucent) for 34 years retiring in 1987.
Bob married Beatrice "Bea" Markofski on September 28, 1957, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Berlin. They made their home in Darboy where they raised their six sons. After retirement, Bob and Bea moved to Lake Winneconne.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, giving bear hugs to his grandchildren and his wife, playing cards and traveling with Bea. He was active in Boy Scouts, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne, and a member of Giles-Luce American Legion Post 364, Winneconne.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice; his sons, Bruce (Connie), Darboy; Carl (Dawn), Appleton; Joseph (friend, Donna), Reedsville; Andy (friend, Katie Johnson), Breckenridge, Colorado; Tony (Cindi), Appleton; grandchildren, Nick and Claire, Darboy; Ashley (Eric) and Katherine, Appleton; Kenneth (Tiffany), Houston, Texas; Sara (Joey), Lincoln, Nebraska; Paul, Reedsville; Ryan and Nathan, Appleton. Sisters who survive are Dorothy (Bob) Etka, Peggy (Tom) Greunke, and Jean Kenjesky, all of Kimberly; Mary (Don) Van Ooyen, Mesa, Arizona; sister-in-law, Irene Foslin, Janesville; brothers-in-law, Robert (Karen) Markofski, Berlin; Ben Werzinske, Ripon. Bob is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; a stillborn daughter; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Dick Weyenberg, Terry Kenjesky; and two sisters-in-law, Andrea Werzinske, and Sr. Mary Sharon Markofski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne, with Fr. Jason Blahnik and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Military Honors will follow the Mass. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the tome of the Mass.
