Barbara (Allen) Otis

Barbara (Allen) Otis, age 48, of Phoenix, Arizona, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at her home. She was born November 14, 1961, in Oshkosh to Gerald and Mary (Miller) Allen. Barb was the valedictorian of her 1980 Omro High School class, and was voted the Outstanding Athlete in her class. While in high school she participated in volleyball, basketball, and track, and was a member of the late 1970's Omro girl's state tournament basketball teams. Barb also was an AFS student in Argentina while in high school. Barbara was a 1984 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Medical Technology. While in college, she played on the UW-M ladies basketball team. On June 27, 1992, Barbara married Mike Otis in Golden, Colorado, and they made their home in Lakewood, Colorado prior to moving to Phoenix in 1993. She had worked as a med. tech. in various hospitals in Chicago, Denver, and Scottsdale, Arizona before retiring to join her husband Mike in their cabinet business. Barb's hobbies included doing needlework, camping, growing flowers, and playing the piano.
Barb is survived by her husband, Michael Otis, of Phoenix; her parents, Gerald and Mary Allen, of Omro; two brothers, Steven (Janice) Allen, of Omro; Robert Allen, of Omro; one sister, Catherine Allen, of Winneconne; nephews and nieces, Lucas and Zachary Allen, Kaitlin and Allison Butte, Jennifer, Sarah, Drew, and Abbie Boettcher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Delores Otis, of Phoenix; sister-in-law, Mary (Erwin) Boettcher, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. Inurnment will be in the Eureka Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

I didn't know Barb well, but I often heard, during our High School years, Steve talking about her in a way that I knew he loved her and always appreciated how close a family they had. My heart goes out to you all and wish you find comfort in each other during this difficult time.
