Alfred E. Schultz
Borth, Wisconsin

Alfred E. Schultz, age 100, of Borth, slipped away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at home with his family beside him. He was born June 10, 1910, in the Town of Mecan, to the late Emil and Bertha (Sell) Schultz. On June 8, 1935, Alfred married Sylvia Haase and they lived and farmed in Borth all of their 68 years of marriage. During World War II, Alfred provided the government, through a contract, with marsh hay that he bailed. He was a progressive farmer, always seeming to have the first piece of new equipment that came out. In the early 1970's, Alfred became a cattle trucker/dealer for several years. After selling the cattle and some of the land, Alfred and Sylvia partnered in Berlin Homes, Inc. and developed and built Borth Haven Acres plus many homes throughout the area, and he built his last house in 2004 at the age of 94. He was a member of the Borth United Methodist Church, and served on the board of trustees. Alfred and Sylvia loved traveling and did so all over the U.S. and many foreign countries. He also enjoyed big game hunting, and deer hunted until the age of 95. Alfred was an avid reader, reading almost any book or newspaper he could get.
Alfred is survived by four sons and one daughter, Lee (Roxanne) Schultz, of Butte des Morts; Darlene (Helmut) Presser, of Oshkosh; Robert (Cherrie) Schultz, of Borth; Alan (Wendy) Schultz, of Minocqua; Gary (Dawn) Schultz, of Borth; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his parents, Alfred was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, on December 29, 2003; three brothers, Ed, Henry, and Irving; and five sisters, Louise, Emma, Lillian, Gustie, and Elsie.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at the Borth United Methodist Church, W304 Cty Rd D, with Pastor George Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Borth Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Alfred's name for the Borth United Methodist Church.
Dad, you were our patriarch. You fought a good fight of faith and stayed the course. You leave a legacy of love that continues to grow. We love you, your loving family.
